15th December 2021

Following two brilliantly attended trials at Parkstone Grammar in September, the U14 squad have embarked on the inaugural Champions Cup campaign.

The first match for the team saw a long journey to Cardiff on a Friday evening in October. Despite falling behind the a goal late in the first half, the team responded brilliantly to equalise with a spectacular long range strike from Zara C before the break. An even second half saw Dorset come out on top when Zara converted a penalty after being felled by the keeper as she went through 1 on 1.

With RCT (Welsh county including Swansea) unable to play the November fixture, the squad took on Surrey at Chapel Gate on December 11th to see who would top the group. Having fallen behind 2-0 right on half time, the Dorset team responded brilliantly after the break with Zara reducing the deficit. A Tilly P long range effort found the top corner for a second goal in the half, but it came after Surrey had secured a third goal of their own on the break and a goal in the final minute gave the visitors a 4-2 victory in what had been an exciting and competitive game, that could have gone either way. Congratulations to Surrey who go through as group winners, but Dorset will be joining them in the knock out stages after Christmas.

The squad will also play in the South West Counties League after Christmas with home games against Cornwall and Berkshire and away trips to Oxfordshire and Hampshire.
